| Hazama's seismic isolation technology has been
used in various fields of architecture |
Hazama built Japan's first hospital featuring a base isolated seismic
structure. It has also constructed various welfare facilities, industrial
facilities, including production plants for semiconductors, foodstuffs
and other items, and distribution centers using various state-of-the-art
technologies. For example, it has applied advanced information management
systems and construction methods that isolate seismic forces and enable
buildings to resist earthquakes to ensure safety. In addition, it
has developed advanced element technology systems, including interior
environmental control technology for clean rooms and other facilities.

Advanced Medical Facilities
In recent years, Hazama has recorded some major successes as a
builder of hospitals, medical facilities and welfare facilities
for the aged. Its buildings are designed to bring the latest information
systems and advanced technology to the world of medical care, while
at the same time providing people-friendly residential and hospitality
areas. Hazama's ideal in this field is the "intelligent hospital"
concept. It has applied this concept to the creation of safe and
amenable medical and welfare environments. Along this approach,
Hazama completed various general hospitals and facilities for the
aged.

project |
Because of the public importance of these buildings and the purposes
for which they are used, the scope for the conventional scrap-and-build
method of renewal is limited. It is also necessary to provide for
the continuing installation of the latest medical equipment, and
for the on-going improvement of safety and disaster-prevention systems.
For these reasons, construction plans must be based on long-term
perspectives that encompass maintenance, management, facility renewal
and enhancement, and additions and alterations. Hazama has gained
an excellent reputation with proposals based on its "life cycle
engineering" concept.
Recently there has been increased demand for measures to strengthen
buildings against earthquakes. Hazama has responded to this need
by actively proposing the base isolation system. Examples of its
approach in this area include the Hoshigaura Hospital, which was
the first hospital in Japan with a seismic isolation structure.
A base isolation system was also employed in "Riverside YuYu,"
a health facility for the aged.

Production and Distribution Facilities
 |
| Recently, Hazama has worked on
various facilities in Asian countries, such as the Mabuchi
Motors Vietnam factory |
Hazama has responded to the increasing sophistication of production
and distribution facilities by developing concurrent engineering
methods that provide for total management of all aspects, including
the installation of factory automation systems, product development
and distribution and inventory coordination. It also offers food
production engineering know-how based on the HACCP (Hazard Analysis
Critical Control Point) method, and logistics engineering, which
provides integrated control of distribution operations from order
acceptance to delivery. It has employed these technologies in the
construction of numerous production and distribution facilities.
Hazama has accumulated a rich resource of design and construction
know-how for production and distribution facilities and information
systems, including technology for clean rooms, air flow analysis,
environmental forecasting, micro-vibration measurement and prediction
and other systems. This knowledge has been applied in a variety
of projects, including overseas plants built for Japanese companies
that have expanded into other countries.

Wide Spectrum of Technology
Hazama has gone beyond the confines of the construction field to
develop its own original technology to meet the increasingly sophisticated
and diverse needs of the medical and manufacturing sectors by building
the safe, high-value-added facilities demanded by society.

Hazama has fused sophisticated basic technologies, including micro-vibration
damping, earthquake-resistance and air flow control, to create a
resource of sophisticated know-how for use in a variety of medical
facilities and high-tech industrial installations. This knowledge
has been applied in a wide range of facilities, including industrial
clean rooms, which require extremely precise control of the production
environment, and bio clean rooms for medical and biotechnology facilities
and food production plants, where it is necessary to control floating
microorganisms. Hazama also developed the "Clean Nurse"
system, which is an efficient and highly economical unit-type clean
room.
