Safe and stable water supplies are an important resource for society and industry, and Hazama has made important contributions in this field, including the Sungai Selangor Water Supply Scheme in Malaysia

Enhanced modern lifestyles depend on the development of social infrastructure. Examples include the construction of roads and gas and water supply systems to maintain pleasant and hygienic urban living environments, the development of new towns and research cities that harmonize with the natural environment, and the establishment of road networks as arteries for today's increasingly complex and rapid distribution systems. We tend to take these facilities and systems for granted, yet here, too, we can find many examples of Hazama's remarkable and highly original technology.

Large-Scale Water Supply Systems for Urban Areas

Hazama has been involved in the Selangor water supply project in Malaysia since 1989. The aim of the project is to lay a pipeline from the Selangor River to Kuala Lumpur, a distance of approximately 30 kilometers, in order to supply water to the Malaysian capital. Comprehensive engineering know-how is required for this major scheme, which includes not only water storage and treatment facilities but also pump facilities.

In Vietnam, Hazama was also responsible for the construction of the Zaram water supply system on the outskirts of Hanoi.

Ensuring Long-Term Water Security

As concrete corrosion and aging have been progressing in old sewer lines and sewage treatment facilities, a demand for prompt remedial action has been increasing. Hazama developed a unique construction method that significantly reduces corrosion simply by adding an antibacterial preparation to the concrete for the sulfur-oxidizing bacteria which causes the deterioration. It permanently suppresses the growth and propagation of these bacteria.

To maintain water quality in the rivers from which water is drawn, Hazama has developed the "River Fresh" system, a compact, low-cost, yet highly effective river cleaning system.

The "River Fresh" compact river-cleaning system has demonstrated its effectiveness in a number of river-cleaning projects

Large-Scale Land Development Projects

Kanahodo-Mukaihara New Town
Hazama has completed construction work at various airports in Japan. Iwami Airport is a typical mid-sized airport in Japan

Hazama's large-scale land development projects create land for an extremely wide range of facilities, including not only housing, but also a variety of industrial installations, including industrial parks, airports, circuits, distribution facilities and power stations.

In the area of housing development, Hazama has successfully completed major land subdivision schemes, including Kanahodo-Mukaihara New Town in Kawasaki City. These comprehensive regional development projects were all designed to harmonize with the natural environment.

Airport site development is another important activity in this area. Hazama has developed sites for several airports in Japan and in various countries overseas. And Hazama uses satellite-based GPS surveying technology in land development operations for projects that require extremely precise surveying methods, such as airports and industrial facilities.

At Balikpapan International Airport, in Indonesia, Hazama carried out the runway construction and the construction of other facilities, including the passenger terminal building and the control tower

Safeguarding the Arteries of Transportation

Hazama has extensive experience in the construction of expressways and railways and helped to build various important transportation arteries in Japan. One type of work in this category that has attracted particular interest in recent years is the reinforcement of existing road and rail bridges against earthquakes.

Hazama worked on the Nagano Shinkansen, the newest Bullet Train railway in Japan
